Position Description - Conventional Machinist
Reports to - Shop supervisor
Summary of Position - The conventional machinist is responsible for producing quality parts with cost effective procedures. He / She is responsible for all equipment in the machining area and is required to work safe, report all deficiencies of production parts, equipment and tooling to his/her immediate supervisor.

Requirements for the Job and Work Environment – it is important that the successful candidate has developed a skill set through his / her education and / or work experience that allows them to be capable of preforming Machining tasks with a high degree of accuracy and quality within the work environment. Attributes we feel allow for this output are not limited too but are contained within the list below:
• Ability to follow drawings and make parts as per drawing.
• Can easily work with fractions and / or decimals.
• Experience using typical tooling such as micrometers, calipers, and levels.
• Ability to Setup machines including tooling and proper fixtures.
• Attachment setup on fixtures including clamping & holding devices.
• Comfortable working in a Conventional Machine environment.
• Has no issue keeping equipment and work area clean?
• Understands and is willing to perform preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
• Is capable of trouble shooting basic functionality of conventional equipment.
• Is willing to adjust workflow to be responsive to manufacturing and Service Customers.
• Has no issues lifting or handling pcs up to 50 lb
• Has developed good working practices regarding safety equipment, such as eye protection, hearing protection, etc.
• Communicates well.
• Is a team player.
• Has no issues with standing for the duration of the shift.
Educational / Work Experience - Education and work experience are both key in this role. Michaud is looking for a licenced machinist however the successful candidate may posses work experience with out a licence, that will allow the candite to be successful at this position.
